Gender Representation T1

Gender Representation T1

1. I think the main reasons for the lack of equality in video game characters, is the the dominant ideology that says girls don't play games, but boys do. When girls do come in to video games, just like films, the characters are very feminized. Their character traits are stereotypical women roles. The games seem to be aimed at their largely male target audience, therefore they want their characters they can identify with, ie males.

speaks to the masses, and influences their view on dominant ideology's.

Dominant Ideology's Task 2

2. Its expected that every one should own a mobile phone.

2a. Nobody should have to be available all the time if they don't want to.

2b. It is a difficult thing to challenge because currently society expects that you are answerable 24 hours a day for work, family and social networks. Eg, people without mobile phones could be penalised in the work place.
