Task 5
Creativity And Me

Task 4
Inspiring Creativity

After reading the article I took the advice of the author and decided to get out in the fresh air and be at one with nature. I took some time out to ride my bike and read a book - both things I love to do.

Did it help?
Actually i think it did! It was nice to get out in the cool air, the breezy autumn day was invigorating and peaceful. The leaves blowing around insired me to incorporate them into my final task. It was fun and i really enjoyed working with natural resources. See Task 5 for the finished articles...

Task 3

ColourBleed By Peter Szewczyk

The short film colour bleed engages its viewers with an opening wide shot to set the scene and narrow shots to show us more information or highlight a particular character or movement. The film is set in a very bland, grey looking city, with the main character a"literal spot of colour", among the dreary streets of the city. The film had a very atmospheric soundtrack that over emphasises back ground sounds like foot steps, traffic noise and the hubub of the high street. This really helped to engage the viewer and make them feel like part of the story, as if they are there too. In one scene there is a colourful bird out side the window, the music goes imitates the flow of the birds wings beating, which really draws your attention to the scene. There is no narration in the film, this is replaced by music, that provides a good atmospheric medium to set each scene. The main characters are very striking and polar opposites, its clear from the beginning that the old woman is a very powerful figure. the young girl represents everything the old woman is not and so she seeks to destroy her.

Task 2

Many people think that originality, and thus creativity, is 'dead' - that we no longer experience  anything that isn't an imitation, in some way, of a previous text.

The quote below is by Herman Melville

I don't agree with him; imitation can still be creative and there are many examples of this in the form of adverts, artwork, films and film posters.
Surely creativity itself is the ability to rework or re imagine a concept, this means showing your take on something. The Oxford English Dictionary's definition of imitation is 'A thing intended to simulate or copy something else'. Surely being creative with the imitation, then turns it into something else completely...

Here is an example of a company using inspiration from Salvador Dhali's Elephants piece, for their eye catching advertising campaign.
