Task 2
Many people think that originality, and thus creativity, is 'dead' - that we no longer experience anything that isn't an imitation, in some way, of a previous text.
The quote below is by Herman Melville
I don't agree with him; imitation can still be creative and there are many examples of this in the form of adverts, artwork, films and film posters.
Surely creativity itself is the ability to rework or re imagine a concept, this means showing your take on something. The Oxford English Dictionary's definition of imitation is 'A thing intended to simulate or copy something else'. Surely being creative with the imitation, then turns it into something else completely...
Here is an example of a company using inspiration from Salvador Dhali's Elephants piece, for their eye catching advertising campaign.
