Social Media And My Internet Use T5

'Social networks don't bring us closer together as we now talk through computers rather than to each other.'

The advent of technology has most definitely changed our lives. We've evolved with this growth and development, to change they way we keep in touch. My opinions on the statement above are very mixed. I understand how we are faced with screens instead of the faces of our loved ones, but in some ways this benefits us. I have friends that live far away, who we see probably only once every couple of years. Facebook has allowed our families to feel like part of each others lives. the daily commentary of their exploits and vice versa, has meant that we know what they are up to and therefore feel closer. The opposite could be said about the family sat in my living room right now. I have just liked a photograph posted by my mum, instead of telling her face-to-face how much I liked it! As with anything there are pro's and con's. The internet has connected billions of people who would otherwise be unconnected, but we need to make sure we hold onto the real relationships in our lives and nurture them, so our social communication is not lost entirely.

Five Ways To Promote Record Label And Its Artists.

  • Create a 'vote for your favourite artist', on Facebook, then offer a free download of the artist with the most votes.

  • Use Instagram to generate a # imlisteningto with photos of fans listening to their favourite artists from their label.

  • Create a quiz using music intros, users must 'like' the labels Facebook page to begin the quiz
  • Ask artists from the label to tweet amusing tweets about their likes and dislikes, to generate a buzz. Eg 'Beyonce's favourite crisps are cheese and onion!'

  • Create a daily Snapchat story featuring the music videos of various artists from the label.

By undertaking these steps the record label will advertise its artists, connect with the fans and generate publicity.

Gender Representation T5

To make a more equal society in terms of gender representation, media producers could make the gender pay gap equal, they could have more varied roles in adverts, movies and TV shows, whilst avoiding gender stereotypes.
There should be more lesbian, gay and people from various cultural backgrounds in all media productions, this would give out a more varied representation of gender.
Small changes could easily be made, such as advertisements for household items using more male profiles or white collar professions could be more widely attributed to women.

The Nature vs Nurture article gives evidence to support Judith's opinion. The article talks about, whether genetic and environmental factors have a greater influence on your behaviour. Do inherited traits or life experiences play a greater role in shaping your personality?

"For example, when a person achieves tremendous academic success, did they do so because they are genetically predisposed to be successful or is it a result of an enriched environment? If a man abuses his wife and kids, is it because he was born with violent tendencies or is it something he learned by observing his own parent's behavior?"

"A few examples of biologically determined characteristics (nature) include certain genetic diseases, eye color, hair color, and skin color. Other things like life expectancy and height have a strong biological component, but they are also influenced by environmental factors and lifestyle."

1.Definition of Patriarchal Society -
A system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it.

2. I don't think we live in an patriarchal society anymore, because we currently have a female prime minister and a female monarch.

The role of men in the family has evolved. Men used to be the bread winners and the head of the family. Now, more than ever, women are taking different views on this. Family's in today's society are made up differently, for example single parents, lesbian and gay family's. This goes against the traditional patriarchal template of years gone by, with the head of the family, housewife and children.
This said, we do still have areas that need updating, such as the gender pay gap and the progression of women through various corporations.

I believe that stereotypes and intelligence do come hand in hand because we cannot possibly comprehend the amount of information that we wou...
